With the Light: Raising an Autistic Child by Keiko Tobe

I haven't finished this book or its two sister companion volumes, With the Light II and III. I can't really review it as I've only just begun reading it. The three volumes together weigh in at over 1500 pages. It is an english translation of a manga, and as such is to be read right to left, back to front. The introduction says its a work of fiction, resulting from interviews with parents of children with autism. My first impressions are that it is cute, accessible, easy to follow and doesnt rush the narrative. The work is set in Japan and so gives an interesting cultural perspective on raising a child with an ASD in a very competative, status-preoccupied environment.
